From food confusion to honest answers

Ask questions about your food

In a world full of food trends, commercial claims, diet advice and conflicting opinions, the Netherlands Nutrion Centre needed to once again become the place people in the Netherlands could turn to for trustworthy information about food.

There was already a wealth of valuable content: the wheel of five, tailored eating, Foodswaps, practical tips and in-depth information. But that richness created a new challenge: how do you bring all that knowledge, all those tools and all that advice together in one recognisable whole?

The challenge

Food is something everyone makes choices about every day. Yet the landscape around those choices has become increasingly complex. Influencers, supermarkets, apps, quality marks, diet gurus and social media all have something to say about what is healthy, sustainable or sensible.

The result is not just information overload but also doubt. People want to choose better but often do not know where to start or who to trust.

The real question became: in a world full of confident answers, how do we help people start again with a good question?

The narrative choice

The breakthrough was to value doubt and the act of asking questions.

Not starting with advice or the big answer. But with the questions people genuinely have: is this healthy? What does wholegrain actually mean? How can I eat more sustainably without making life complicated? How do I choose better in the supermarket?

That shifted the Netherlands Nutrition Centre’s role:
From: broadcaster of nutrition advice.
To:
trusted guide for food questions.

The central idea became:
It’s good to have questions about food.

That idea reframed uncertainty from weak to valuable. Having questions is not a sign that you do not know enough. It is the beginning of making more deliberate choices.

How it worked

Food questions became a multi-year campaign platform broad enough to work across target groups, stages of behaviour, tools, formats and content types.

Every execution started with a question people could genuinely have and led to a clear, trustworthy and practical answer.

The movement came by shifting from broadcasting to inviting.
From: this is healthy.
To:
what would you like to know?

In this way, Food questions became more than an umbrella over separate communications; it created a recognisable route to clarity.
